TWAS June 27th

Hello Families, Well I can't believe that this year has come to a close.  I have watched your children grow and learn, but most importantly I have watched them care for each other.  What a beautiful group of young people I have had the privilege of spending my days with. Of course, their families are so beautiful too.  I can't thank all of you enough for your support and trust.  You allowed me to be a teacher, you permitted me to be human and you trusted that I saw each and every one of your little ones as a precious little person who was loved and deserved my very best each and every day.  I did not always reach my goal of 'best,' but I tried.  In return, my days were filled with love, learning and laughter. Your children will forever be a part of my story and for that I am so grateful.  I have told them all, and I will tell you as well, I may not be their teacher next year but I am forever their friend.  I am always available, and they know how I love lunch dates!!!

TWAS June 20

Hello Everyone, Happy Friday — it's so hard to believe that it is the last Friday of the year! Thank you for all you are doing to keep your little ones positive and going!  I fully get how tough bedtimes and alarm clocks are this time of year.  Whatever you're doing, you're doing it well because they've been coming in each morning excited and ready to go! We heard that CBE has already forwarded the Acknowledgment of the Land video to Mr. Scout and we are all very excited to see it; apparently it's great.  Mr. Scout was trying to bring it in today for us to see, but some unscheduled events kept him very busy.  Likewise I haven't yet been forwarded the video of our assembly/play but as soon as I get it I will share it with the students on their drives. Next week there is an awful lot going on in a very short period of time: Monday afternoon is sports day. Tuesday: 11:00 family picnic (for our class), and then Club Friday in the afternoon (we postponed so

Hello All, Because of all the emails you've had this week, I will try to keep this very short and stick to the artist of the week, important dates/times for next week and pictures of the children's set.  It was a great week!  June 19th:  CBE filming the Acknowledgment of the Land, 8:30 on the ridge “We would like to acknowledge the traditional territories and oral practices of the Blackfoot Nations, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai. We also acknowledge the Tsuut’ina and Stoney Nakoda First Nations, the Metis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.” June 21st:  Our play for the National Indigenous Day assembly 10:00am.  If possible, purple or blue tops with green or brown pants. June 22nd:  Second round of the talent show.   Artist of the Week For the last days of the school year, we will be reflecting on all of the artists that we have learned about this year.

Hello Everyone, It looks like another beautiful start to the weekend — it definitely was a perfect day for the water fundraiser.  The children had a great time; thank you so much for the support with this. Also a HUGE thank you to the volunteers who made our last field trip of the year possible.  What a wonderful day.  We can't thank you enough! We have an extremely busy and exciting couple of weeks ahead.  Our class has been gifted a Blackfoot Legend that we will be performing on the 21st (more to come on that).  We also learned that 73 has been given the great honour and responsibility of creating the new CBE system Acknowledgment of the Land video.  The film crew will be here filming on the 19th! The children finished their beautiful artistic representations of the Tipi raising with Elder Clarence.  These visuals are paired with their one most powerful connection to the day.  The children then stitched their work onto 4 sunflower stalks — each stalk will be a gift of tha

Hello Everyone, I want to start with a HUGE shout out to the students:  every single shoe was on the rack today (with not a single reminder from me) to make Ms. Neilson's life a little easier!!!  You guys are the best :) Also . . . news on the mystery smell:  There was a back up in the humidifier!  All fixed and back to normal :) I hope your staying cozy and dry with all of this spring wetness!  According to our research, it was even too wet to release our butterflies today (we have so many) so we've postponed until Monday. Dance Residency next week:   We are very excited to welcome Cody from SoundKreations for our Bollywood/Latin Dance residency next week!  You are welcome to come to our class's performance on Friday 10:25 - 10:40. Field-trip update:  thank you so much everyone for getting those field trip forms back so quickly.  Wednesday will be a fun day.  I am so sorry about the fun lunch/field trip schedule.  I have been told that the lunches will go into t

Hello 73 Families, I hope all of you are enjoying the week. It has truly been beautiful here for so many reasons!  Below are a couple of messages from Ms. Thomas and one about our upcoming field trip (this is the last volunteer call — I  promise!!!) The rest, I will leave to the children: Field Trip: Telus Spark, June 6th.  The cost will be $17.00.  Form will be going home Monday. Artist of the Week: The Tragically Hip After much anticipation, we finally have a full week with which we can explore this great Canadian band. The Tragically Hip have left a major impact on the Canadian music scene with their devoted fan base and ability to incorporate Canadian themes in their music.  Talent Show:  Hello! If your child is wishing to participate in the Friday Music Class Talent Shows, Ms. Thomas will be starting auditions next week. Students from our class are invited to audition on  Wednesday  at lunch time. They are expected to come prepared to share a 90 second (maxim

Hello Everyone, I hope all of your little ones are feeling rested from a very cold, wet and busy day at the zoo. I can't thank our parent volunteers enough for being so amazing!  It really was a great day because of all of you, despite the "weather" challenges :) It is so unfortunate that the field trip was on the same day as the volunteer appreciation; we will definitely be having our own appreciation as the support you have all shown, in so many different ways, has been incredible.  I'm thinking a year end family picnic would be wonderful . . . more to come on that . . . We do have one last field trip (to Telus Spark) planned for June 6th so if you are interested in joining us please let me know and I will put you on the volunteer list. Just a note about busses for next year:  If you think that your child might be taking the bus, you must register after May 22 and before June 11th (you do not have to pay at this time).  The my CBE account will be unaccessible
